Anonymous asked: I noticed that DC has been using a "premium" paper (which i actually quite like) for a good chunk of the books they publish. Those books are priced at $3.99, I feel that books from Marvel that are the same price use a lesser quality paper. Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on Marvel, I'm a Marvel guy until the day i die. I would just like to know why the difference in paper quality for books priced at $3.99 is so different between companies. If one publisher does it why not the other?

I don’t base my publishing or printing decisions on what anybody else does, I base them on what makes sense in terms of maintaining a level of quality and keeping the books profitable so that we can continue to make them.

Marvel also gives you a free digital copy of the lion’s share of their 3.99 books, where DC doesn’t. To me, the value of a digital copy that is almost impossible to lose is far and away worth the extra dollar, where as the finer quality paper… maybe on a first issue I would like that? Otherwise, who cares what it’s printed on, as long as the words and the pictures don’t smear when you touch them.
